Tiferet Israel Synagogue – Wall and Ceiling Murals by Yariv Ben Dayan

Location: Jewish Quarter, Jerusalem – A Historic Restoration
Artist: Yariv Ben Dayan

A Masterpiece Reborn in the Heart of Jerusalem

As part of the ambitious restoration of the Tiferet Israel Synagogue in Jerusalem’s Jewish Quarter, artist Yariv Ben Dayan was chosen to recreate the synagogue’s wall and ceiling paintings — a project of exceptional scope and historic importance.

These monumental murals, painted entirely by Ben Dayan, include trompe-l’œil marble textures, ornamental architectural illusions, and symbolic Jewish imagery that draw on 19th-century sources — yet resonate with a contemporary sense of depth, beauty, and devotion.

Unprecedented Work in Israel’s Synagogue Art

The mural work created for Tiferet Israel is unlike anything seen before in Israeli synagogue art.

Each brushstroke reflects not only technical mastery but also deep historical research and spiritual insight.

This is not merely restoration – it is a full artistic resurrection, breathing life into a sacred space that had stood in ruins for decades.

Yariv Ben Dayan’s work elevates synagogue mural painting in Israel to a new level. This is one of the most ambitious and unique synagogue mural projects ever completed in Israel. His personal vision and execution bring together heritage, emotion, and timeless beauty in a way rarely seen.

A Living Symbol of Jewish Continuity

Situated in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, the Tiferet Israel Synagogue is more than a building — it is a symbol of return and revival. The artwork by Yariv Ben Dayan gives the restored structure its soul, transforming the walls into a living gallery of Jewish memory and hope

Restoration of the Historic Mural in the Cardo – Old City of Jerusalem

Location: The Cardo, Jewish Quarter, Jerusalem
Artist: Yariv Ben Dayan

Breathing New Life into a Jerusalem Landmark

The project to restore the mural in the Cardo, in Jerusalem, was designed to restore the original painting created in 2000 by the company “LA PAINTORIE.” The work included a thorough renovation of the wall, which involved sanding, plastering, and preparing the substrate for new painting.

The restoration process utilized innovative techniques and advanced materials to preserve the painting and ensure its durability over time, while fully adhering to the original design and details. The final result preserves the artistic heritage and harmoniously blends with the historical atmosphere of the Cardo.
